Calgary’s first transit oriented development (TOD), University City is a five tower project adjacent to the University of Calgary and Brentwood LRT Station. Our design scope for this mixed-use development included several key components: pedestrian friendly streetscapes, raised planters and surface treatments over parkades, and green roof planting.
As one of the city’s most high-profile developments, it was vital to develop an outdoor environment that was both welcoming and functional. An important design component was to provide intuitive, pedestrian-friendly nodes for easy access not only to each building, but also to surrounding amenities. Residents and guests will enjoy pedestrian scale streetscapes, patios and lighting as they move throughout University City and access existing amenities like parks, residential communities and the Brentwood LRT station.
